National Welcoming Week Refugee Dinner

Jacksonville is a giving city. We see so many in the community willing to reach out, give help, and provide for those who are in need. We stumbled upon a prime example of this with the upcoming event at Ibex Ethiopian Kitchen hosted by the Jacksonville African Community Organization. The event is being held on Friday, September 23rd, at 6:30 pm. Typically when you see a charity event, the proceeds are donated later.  While the money from these events is being well spent, you may not immediately see what it provides. With this dinner, every ticket purchased includes dinner for the purchaser and also dinner for a refugee that has been newly relocated to this area. You’ll be able to share the meal with the refugee that your ticket covers during the event, so you’ll  meet and enjoy a communal meal with new neighbors! Each ticket includes a full course of meat and vegetables for two and a soft drink. There will also be music, dancing, and a complimentary Ethiopian coffee ceremony. We absolutely love the idea of sharing a meal and welcoming these refugees into our community and showing them how much Jacksonville cares, and we applaud the Jacksonville African Community Organization, the Jacksonville Area Refugee Task Force, and Ibex Ethiopian for a wonderful display of love. Here are the event details in short form:
