By now you must be familiar with the quick service build-your-own-pizza concept that seems to be popping up everywhere. Your Pie was the first in Jax and continues to outpace competitors with their focus on fresh ingredients and their local community. Not only does Your Pie offer local craft beer and delicious Craft Pie series specials, but now the Southside location in Tapestry Park is offering a Local Pie every month.
What is a Local Pie? In addition to the national Your Pie brand’s official Craft Series pies introduced periodically throughout the year, now each month you’ll have a chance to try a truly unique flavor combination favorited by local staff and guests – hence the name “Local Pie”. In the past Your Pie has featured some interesting combinations of non-traditional pizza toppings in their Craft Series that are often hard to find. The Your Pie Southside location actually won the national Your Pie cook off with their Fresh Fiesta Pie – think deconstructed guacamole complete with a squeeze of fresh lime on top – in 2016. Over time other unique combinations have ranged from lamb to shrimp alfredo and barbecue pork all the way to their current Sriracha Nacho Pie! There’s even a rumor that the 2015 national winner “Slider Pie” – we hear it tastes like a Krystal burger complete with pickles and mustard?! – might make an appearance as a Local Pie at Your Pie Southside later this year too!
Between now and October 31st, you’ll be able to try the “Sriracha Nacho Pie” at Your Pie Southside. Just select your dough and your pie maker will start with Sriracha Ranch sauce as the base. Next comes white cheddar cheese, sweet corn, fresh jalapenos, red onions, cilantro and roasted chicken. In less than five minutes, they will bake it to perfection in their 500+ degree brick oven. After it’s baked, your pie will be topped with finely chopped Romaine lettuce, a handful of crunched up Nacho Doritos then add another swirl of spicy Sriracha Nacho sauce – fresh, fast and flavorful!
Everyone seems to have a different response when you ask the secret to the Your Pie’s success when you consider there are so many competitors in the pizza industry in general. Dea Sims, the franchisee at Your Pie Southside, says “It’s really simple. Food comes first at Your Pie. There are no conveyor belts or microwaves here. Making great pizza is truly an art form. Hand tossed dough is essential – you can’t make quality food with a modified burrito press (which is what the majority of national brands attempt to do to increase their speed). Hand tossing does take longer, but it makes all the difference in the taste and texture of the finished product.”
Ever the community-focused owner, Sims does everything from field trips, to spirit nights with local school teams, to providing beer for a local running club, and this month is even feeding kids in costumes for free come Halloween*. Sims’ Fleming Island store recently won Clay County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, and Southside store General Manager Trevor Jorgenson was named 2017 GM of the year by Your Pie franchisees.
With a team history of creativity and passion for real pizza, we could not be more excited for the Local Pie series. The Fresh Fiesta originating at Your Pie Southside was one of our favorites, and now there is a new wild and wonderful pie to look forward to each month. The Spicy Sriracha Nacho gives a whole new experience to pizza. With nearly half a dozen sauces and over 40 regular toppings, our advice for overwhelmed diners used to be go with the Craft Series Pie. Your Pie Southside has upped the game. Just go with the Local Pie.
